right now I'm just one very sleepy guy (@antiadvil) so I can't promise I'll be the most active, but I want to encourage other people to add transcripts/IDs to posts they make and see as well! So I've read through your ml posts and you seem to dislike the sentimonster theory. Valid, obviously, but I don't know/remember the reason? So I'd like to hear it - if it's because it doesn't make sense, because you don't like the concept, or literally any reason at all. And if it's a reason like logic, what would it take for you to like the concept? Again, it's completely valid if you don't like it at all for no explainable reason, I'm just curious because I'm not opposed to the theory and also I like your writing and what I understand/know about you as a person so I'd like to know why you feel the way you do :D

So! My issues with the Sentimonster Plot have to do with the execution, not the ideas. The ideas I think could have been solid if given proper support!

Let's focus on the downsides first:

The plot holes! There's a lot. Off the top of my head:

Adrien, in the first three seasons, was directly disobeying Gabriel's orders. Him being rebellious was such a big character trait that his introduction in Origins was him disobeying Gabriel's orders! Compare that to Season 4/5, where he does not disobey, where he follows orders. While you could argue that 'oh Gabriel just didn't use the Amok before!', why didn't he when he's clearly comfortable doing so later?

How do Gabriel and Nathalie not know that Chat is a Sentimonster? Though it is later retconned into them only being able to sense the Amok, in 'Feast' Nathalie clearly senses the Sentimonster. (I have gone on a tangent of how she had to have sensed the Sentimonster, not the Amok, because if she sensed the Amok then her knowing that Feast is a Sentimonster is a large leap in logic)

Why didn't Gabriel use Adrien's Amok in either 'Gorizilla' or 'Chat Blanc'? Even if Adrien managed to circumvent those orders through loopholes, that could have been utilized!

Adrien has been hit with Cataclysm before. His reaction was what we see from Humans, not from Sentimonsters.

While Felix being a Sentimonster was mildly foreshadowed, Kagami being a Sentimonster came out of nowhere.

There are other things though!

For one thing, there's the fact that this came with saying that all Sentimonsters are Sapient Beings. Not only does this seem unlikely given how..... not Sapient most act, but it adds in horrifying implications as that jacks up the series' on-screen kill count.

It also wasn't set up well. Not even with the plotholes, but because there was no buildup. Sentimonsters weren't even introduced until the last few minutes of the Season 2 finale! And we didn't start getting hints to Adrien being a Sentimonster until /maybe/ the end of Season 3. I compare this often to other kids' shows with twists like Steven Universe or Gravity Falls, where the twists are foreshadowed as early as the first episode.

Given the fact that we currently don't have any way to truly free a Sentimonster from the Amok's control, I do not like the narrative there. Even if Adrien is given his Amok, there's always that possibility of someone else controlling him. It would be much more satisfying if he's freed from it, whether it be by Maribug saving him or by him going all Ella Enchanted and giving himself the order to not listen to orders. But even that latter one has been proven to not work. Not to mention that, even if he manages to hold on to the Amok, the Peacock User could just dispel him in a snap.

Another thing I have with it is a more biased note rather than a criticism of Canon, but I don't like how casually the Peacock can create Sapient Life. I personally feel that the act of creating Life, even accidentally, should be a difficult process that takes time and energy and even a little danger. This maaaaaay be because I came from FMA:B. So ya know. But I feel that the Peacock casually creating Sapient Beings is too OP, and it should be nerfed by either being unable to do that, or by the Sentimonsters having /potential/ to become real, but not by default.

Now! That said!

I do like the /theoretical/ idea of the Sentimonsters! While I criticized the version in ML, I do love the idea of Sapient Life coming from some non-Sapient source! Whether it be Cloning, AI programming, some sort of Homonculus, or even just going full Velveteen Rabbit, I love that. Bonus points for the 'how do I know I'm real/alive/have emotions/etc' angst! I also do like the idea of Adrien being controlled in some way, but I want him to be able to fully break free.

So ways to fix it:

Foreshadow this earlier. Firstly would be introducing the idea of Sentimonsters at some point very early on. Mention them and let us learn more, so that we could match it to Adrien's behavior. Speaking of! Have Adrien follow Gabriel's orders more! If you want him to still be rebellious, have him be sneaky! Use loopholes and wordplay to let him say '/technically/ I'm doing what I was told!'.

Have Gabriel utilize the Amok in times where he suspects Adrien of being Chat Noir. Adrien could still utilize loopholes here to get out of it! Like Gabriel orders him 'Tell the truth, are you Chat Noir?" and Adrien, using the logic of how he's not Chat Noir right now(aka: not Transformed) says 'nope!'.

Give a reason that Nathalie and Gabriel can't sense Chat being a Sentimonster through the Peacock. Either Canon's retcon of 'only sensing the Amok' or something like 'being Transformed muddles the signal'.

So on and so forth.

Fix it so that Adrien (and Felix and Kagami if you're keeping them all) is unique compared to the other Sentimonsters. Whether it be because he was designed to be Sapient, or because something else was added/done to make him Real, have that. This would free us from the fucked implications of Maribug's killcount.

And then give us the freedom! Again, I'd prefer something Ella Enchanted-esque. But if you have Ladybug's Cure do something or drag in the Eagle Miraculous, it's fine.

Thank you for asking this, because I promise you are not the only one confused about it. It's not a silly question at all.

On Tumblr, copy/pasting another person's words into a separate post without credit, even the original post of the thread, is generally considered rude in almost all cases, especially if you don't give credit. Image descriptions are the exception.

This is because unlike other types of content, it's not really about authorship so much as it is about getting the information itself to as many people as possible. And since the original post is the one that shows up in the tags and search results, putting that description in the original post usually creates a waterfall effect (more people see the accessible version in the tags/search, more people reblog that version, more people see the reblogs of that version and continue to reblog that version, etc.).

While I can't definitively speak for every image describer on this website, I can say that I have never met one who would be offended by you taking their ID and putting it in the original post. I can confidently say the vast majority of image describers would actually be thrilled about this, and would not be concerned about credit at all.

Now, if you would like to give credit, you still can! Some people do— I've seen some end an ID they add to their post with (written by [username]), maybe even @ mentioning them. This is by no means a faux pas, but it's extra.

So next time you have someone add a description to your work, feel free to credit them or messgage them with a thank you or reblog it—all of that is okay. But the most important thing is to add it to the original post. That's what most image describers really want.

You can also take IDs from other reblogs and put it in your reblog if you are not the OP, but still don't want to reblog from the person who described the image. It's perfectly fine!

I guess since there are new tumblr users, esp in mcyt/dsmp/etc, I wanna add some of my own advice besides the change your pfp and reblog stuff (though i'll add onto this).

1. Reblog art AND writing/fanfic AND analysis posts if you liked them! This is is how things are boosted algorithmically.

2. I'm sure you've seen posts about tags and how they work objectively, but on another note definitely feel free to rant/talk in the tags. I and many people read those tags especially in response to writing/art/analysis/etc. and its like a "comment" basically and its always fun to see what ppl think (ik i always read the tags). This is especially true when replies are off.

3. Lots of people have a block and move on policy. If you interact and break a DNI list/are weird/op just doesnt want you to interact you'll just be blocked. This will appear as being unable to follow someone or sort of a loading error on a blog when you try to open it.

4. Ask boxes are great ways to communicate with people but like tags and in general dont be weird, even on anon you can be blocked.

5. Especially in fandom it is always good to curate your own experience. Block tags and posts you dont want to see or cannot see. And if something is triggering always feel free to reach out to a poster to see if they'll tag that (i know i will if asked if needed! I often put "ask to tag" to indicate I recognize this may need tw/cw tags but idk what).

6. Tumblr has a lot of yearly and weekly traditions that are celebrated for fun you may notice. Like Ides of March memes, mishapocalypse is still a thing in my experience, neil banging out the tunes, and etc.

I’m 10 days post-op and continuing my post-phallo supplies post series! I’ll write about which items I got, which ones I used, and which ones I found helpful.

Today’s item, resistance bands, might seem like it shouldn’t be on a post-phallo supply list, but I’ll explain it!

After stage 1 ALT phallo, you have to support your penis. You can’t just let it hang down in your underwear right away.

My post-op instructions from the surgeon said:

“For the first two weeks after discharge from the hospital, you will keep your penis propped at about a 45 degree angle to promote good blood flow.

You will prop your penis with Kerlix (stretchy gauze) folded over a few times to create a cushion/pillow inside mesh underwear with a hole for the shaft. Change this gauze daily and avoid all pressure to penis and to groin. 

Support the penis in the shower either with one hand while washing with the other or wear mesh underwear into the shower.”

As you might guess, showering while constantly holding your penis in one hand is non-ideal. 

While it is fully doable to shower while holding your penis, it is inconvenient because it leaves you with only one free hand. So you have to use that single hand to hold the shampoo bottle while opening the top without dropping it because if it falls on the floor you’ll need to leave the shower to get your grabber/reacher device. And you’ll only have one hand to use to hold your towel and dry off afterwards, and only one hand to hold your toothbrush and put the toothpaste on it... and so on.

Wearing the disposable mesh underwear filled with Kerlix gauze is also not convenient because it does allow you to have two free hands but the gauze gets heavy and wet as you shower and then you need to hold your underwear up with one hand again so it doesn’t sag. That brings you back to the single-hand-free problem.

That’s where the resistance bands come in!

My family has helped me hire Justin from T4T Caregiving to stay with me and my partner to help with my recovery, and he suggested that I try resistance bands to free up both hands! 

How it works: 

Tie the ends of the band together and then put it around your neck like a necklace. The bottom of the band should be almost level with your penis.

If the band is not level with your penis because the loop is too short, cut one band and tie it to another band to extend the loop long enough to reach

If the band is not level with your penis because the loop is too long and hangs low, you may need to tie the band to itself with more extra on each side so the length of the loop is smaller.

When it is level with your penis, reach down and plop your penis into the bottom part of the scoop like a sling.

If it’s at the right height then your penis should be supported as if you were holding it in your hand which will allow you to shower and use both hands.

If it seems a little too long or too short, undo one of the knots and adjust how much extra is on either side of the knot when you retie it.

Unlike pantyhose, which some people have converted to a similar sling, the resistance bands don’t sag when they get soaked. Plus, they’re made of plastic which can be dried by hanging from the shower rod or by drying with a face towel so you don’t have to worry about them taking forever to dry.

You can also wear the bands when you aren’t in the shower and that will free up both hands so you can open a peanut butter jar on your own or cut an apple for a snack. They aren’t useful for propping while you’re laying down, but as long as you’re up and about they’re pretty great.

I bought these particular resistance bands because they are six inches wide which is just long enough to support my penis. Ideally you want a band with a width that’s the same or longer than your penis’s length to allow enough room to create a shelf for the penis. If you use a band that’s more like a cord then it won’t work because your penis will hang off the end and be only partially supported.

The bands I bought were each 5 feet long and came in a package of three. Justin cut one of the bands in half and tied each half-band to one of the full-bands to create two slings.

Pros:

Easy to clean in the sink if they get bloody

Can add a layer of gauze to the sling hammock at the bottom if you need it so your penis isn’t directly on the plastic band

Shower-safe and don’t get waterlogged

Quick to dry

Freeing! You can use both hands instead of having to hold your penis while standing so you can do more things independently!

Cons:

Some people with sensory issues may not like the feeling of the big plastic band on their necks (this can be partially addressed by wearing a bathrobe with a large collar and putting the band around the collar as seen in the second image)

Not discreet or suitable for wearing in public at all, must be worn in private around the apartment 

Only suitable for walking or standing, doesn’t help if you’re laying down
